Energy Savings and Efficiency
Barcelona is one of the European cities with the largest increase of traffic in percentage points. The access roads to the city are among the most congested in Spain. 20 % of the time lost corresponds to passengers that travel to the city by bus. In 2016 the Foundation made an analysis of the impact of the implementation of lanes that are reserved to public transport and high occupancy vehicles –bus/HOV lanes- on the main access roads to Barcelona, as a measure to encourage energy savings and efficiency and at the same time prioritize public transport.
In order to reduce and certify the environmental impact of vehicles, the RACC has signed an agreement with the certifying entity Bureau Veritas to have a calculation tool to establish the carbon footprint of professional fleets.
