Connected Services
Although with challenges related to regulations, market and value offer yet to be defined, mobility understood as a service (MaaS) or a group of services à-la-carte and customised for every user, is beginning to take shape as a future model. As a consequence of the RACC Foundation’s interest in new mobility trends, we became founding partners of the MaaS Alliance, a public/private partnership of stakeholders and mobility companies created to develop this new mobility model in Europe.
Information on the traffic conditions and other mobility indicators, such as car parks or the energy-costs, are important to take rational, efficient and correct mobility decisions, such as choosing the adequate system to move, according to the specific needs. This year, the Foundation updated and improved the Infotransit App, which informs for free about the traffic conditions and other mobility variables in real time.
The participation of the Foundation in the European MOBiNET project is another example of the relevance that the online mobility information networks are gaining, not only for users, but also for operators and suppliers. As a forerunner of the idea of mobility as a service (MaaS) MOBiNET is a platform that puts travellers, transport users, transport system operators and content or infrastructure providers in contact.
