In recent years, mobility has become a focus of attention, not only for administrations or the automobile industry, as it had been so far, but also for technological companies, start-ups, telephone service providers and energy industries, amongst others. All of them make-up a complex ecosystem that moves forward at a high speed, with the expansion of the electric vehicle, the driverless cars and the connected cars, within a shared, intermodal, environment-friendly system.
This is, or will be soon, the reality in many cities of the developed world, a model that will be extending itself, including all of its special features, to all territories. Today we are attentive and analyse what is happening in Barcelona, in Catalonia and in Spain. We carefully observe how the leading cities in Europe are developing, and we analyse the trends that are opening their way beyond our continent.
In this scenario, we are facing challenges and opportunities that we need to detect and use in order to improve the life of citizens, but, as it is the case in every transformation process, we are also faced with questions and risks that we have to highlight and solve.
The RACC faces this great transformation with the aim of becoming a Club of Mobility Services, to be next to the people, offering solutions that adapt to their new needs, and that make the best of the advantages that new technologies are offering, always guaranteeing their safety and their rights.
At our Club, we work to make this new way to move safer for all; for those who walk, for those who ride a bicycle, drive a car, ride a motorbike or use public transport; and we do it with respect, but also requesting administrations to design and maintain safe, comfortable and intelligent infrastructures. We do also promote measures that guarantee a healthier way to move, encouraging the use of cleaner vehicles, a more rational use of vehicles, combining them with other transport systems, in order to improve the quality of the air that we all breathe.
And we do it with the ambition of improving mobility, analysing facts, drawing conclusions and making proposals that we have communicated and taken to the administrations, so that the measures they take do also take the citizens into consideration, and are the best possible measures for each case. We know that sometimes our studies and our proposals have had an influence on the decisions taken; but there are cases in which we will have to insist. The RACC will continue working, with rigor, persistence and demand, because it is the only way to transform reality and to achieve a better society for all.
